HOISINGTON — Anna Rose Urban, 84, died Oct. 28, at Russell Regional Hospital. Born July 3, 1930, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hoffman) Tinkel. On May 2, 1951, she married Julius J. Urban in Dubuque. He died on Oct. 27, 2003. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was the janitorial manage at the Hoisington Veterinary Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Urban was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Hoisington, and the Daughters of Isabella, of Great Bend. She had also been active in the Sunflower Polka Club.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Urban and wife Barbara of Hoisington and Kevin Urban of Russell; two daughters, Patricia Polzin and husband Duane and Geneva Applebee and husband Dennis, both of Hoisington; two sisters, Bernice Zorn and Elizabeth Zorn, both  of Derby; eight grandchildren, Travis Urban, Timothy Urban, Tiffany Urban, Tanner Polzin, Turner Polzin, Ryan Applebee, Tucker Applebee, and Jalisa Applebee; and five great-grandchildren, Dante Urban, Zayda Urban, Cole Urban, Carson Urban, and Aubree Applebee. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Tinkel, Tony Tinkel, and Frank Tinkel; two sisters, Mary Redetzke and Regina Birzer; and by one grandson, Thad Urban.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Anselm Eke officiating. Burial will be at the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Hoisington. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
