Anne Dunekack, age 77, longtime Great Bend, Kan., resident, passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 31, 2021, at Azria Health, Great Bend. Anne was born May 24, 1944 at Corpus Christi, Texas, to Arthur M. and Bertha E. (Sedgwick) Preston. She moved to Great Bend in August of 1962 to attend the Dominican School of Nursing, where she received her Registered Nursing degree. She worked for Drs. Polson and Schuetz in Great Bend for nearly all of her 40-plus year nursing career, retiring in 2006. She was united in marriage to Darrel Dunekack on Oct. 24, 1965, at Great Bend. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2013.

Mrs. Dunekack was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend .  

Survivors include two sons, Michael Dunekack and his fiancee’ Kendra Kaiser, and David Dunekack, both of Great Bend; and two grandchildren, Camryn Dunekack and Cal Dunekack. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel Dunekack; and an infant brother, Don Lee Preston.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Great Bend Cemetery North in Great Bend, with Pastor Merle Brockhoff officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Charter Funerals, 2115 Washington St., Great Bend. The family requests memorials to the Sister Aquinata Penka Nursing Scholarship at Golden Belt Community Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
