LARNED — Arlene Velma Avery, 91, died Dec. 7 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Rush County, the daughter of Emil K. and Antoinette Vesecky Kaufman. A lifetime Pawnee county resident, she was a Homemaker.
Mrs. Avery was of the Christian Faith. She enjoyed visiting with the Wendy’s Coffee group, was a 4-H Leader, was a prior member of the River Township Election Board and a member of the 20th Century Club.
On April 13, 1941, she married C. Orville Avery at Pawnee Rock. He died Jan. 7, 1997.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Hanken and husband Don, and Janell Barton and husband Mike,
all of Larned, and Anita Wasinger and husband Max, San Clemente, Calif., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Kaufman.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Mark Slattery presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Pawnee Rock Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Pawnee County Humane Society or Elder Care, both in care of the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.
