Armella Margaret Bianchino, 92, died Aug. 30 at Villa St. Joseph, Overland Park. She was born Dec. 1, 1920, at Schoenchen, the daughter of Alex and Regina (Gottschalk) Bieker. She married Sal Bianchino Sept. 18, 1945, at Hays. He died April 25, 2012.
She was a florist for the Great Bend Greenhouse. Mrs. Bianchino was a Great Bend resident since 1945, living in Overland Park since 2012.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, St. Patrick traditional choir for more than 40 years, charter member of Daughters of Isabella, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Barton County Chorale, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Ed Bianchino and wife Debbie of Overland Park; four daughters, Elaine Howe and husband Jeff of Lakewood, Colo., Anita McKown and husband Steve of Langhorne, Pa., Jeanette McRoberts and husband Dave of Brookfield, Wis., and Marian Fields of Overland Park; two sisters, Mabel Gross of Hays, and Nita Lyhane of Marysville; and two brothers, Kenneth Bieker and Willard Bieker, both of Schoenchen. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Paul McKown, Jason McKown and Andrea, Brian McKown and wife Ellen, Jill McRoberts, Marc McRoberts and wife Kristen, Gina Centeno and husband Javier, Zachary Ross, Rachel Patrum and husband Mike, Nathan Fields, Chris Bianchino, and Alyssa Bianchino; and seven great-grandchildren: Katherine McKown, William Johnson, Mac McRoberts, Cabriah Ross, Emmanuel Ross, Alassa Gevanni, and Maxwell Patrum.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor Bieker and Marvin Bieker; and three sisters, Alice Sauer, Lyla Bieker, and an infant sister.
Altar society rosary will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Bryant Funeral Home. Vigil service with rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family School Endowment or Villa St. Joseph, in care of the funeral home.
