LARNED – Armella Marie Dechant, 92, passed away June 19, 2017 at Pawnee Plaza, Larned. Born Jan. 31, 1925 in Pheifer, she was the daughter of John M. and Margaret M. Dinkel Stegman. A longtime area resident she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society both of Larned.
On Nov. 15, 1948 she married Henry J. Dechant in Bazine. He passed away Nov. 9, 1988.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary (Layna) Dechant, San Tan Valley, Ariz.. and Larry (Margaret) Dechant, Corpus Christi, Texas.; three daughters, Beverly (Allen) Taylor, Janice (Lewis) McDonald both of Larned and Monica (John) Grant, Adams, Okla.; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Blackwell; four brothers, Elmer, Charles, Virgil and Gilbert Stegman; one sister, Mary Rose Likes and one grandson Zachary Grant.
Vigil service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery following the service.
