ELLINWOOD — Barbara Ann Vander Meer, 67, died Aug. 15 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She was born Nov. 24, 1945, at Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Al and Ruby Bell Grosenheider. She married Thomas J. Vander Meer on Nov. 25, 1966, at Yankton, S.D. She worked as office manager for Drs. Holt, Preston and Peck, and secretary for the maintenance department at Central Kansas Medical Center. A 35-year resident of Great Bend, formerly of Yankton, S.D., she moved to Ellinwood in April.
Mrs. Vander Meer was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three sons, Paul Vander Meer, Great Bend, Michael Vander Meer, Olathe, and Peter Vander Meer, Ellinwood; two brothers, Al Grosenheider, Evelyth, Minn., and Mark Grosenheider, Le Mars, Iowa; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Anselm Eke officiating. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Kimple Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Calling time will be from 1-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Mayo Clinic, in care of the funeral home.
