CLAFLIN — Barbara E. Steiner, 89, died April 21, 2018, at Locust Grove Village, LaCrosse, Kan. She was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Hallis H. and Kathleen C. (Costillo) Slayton. Barbara was a graduate of Claflin High School.
A resident of Claflin since 1941, coming from Lyons, she was an assistant cashier at the former Farmers State Bank in Beaver.
Barbara was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.
On May 12, 1953, she married Edward J. Steiner, in Ellinwood, Kan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Winnifred Rous; and a half- brother, David Slayton. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Vigil and Rosary at 7 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Clalfin, celebrated by Father Terrence Klein. Burial will follow in Claflin Cemetery.
