LARNED — Barbara J. Erway, 70, died March 2, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born April 5, 1943, in Sumiton, Ala., she was the daughter of Houston and Lilly Fortenberry Greathouse. Moving from Alabama in 1956, she was a longtime area resident of Larned and a Registered Nurse at Larned State Hospital. On June 13, 1962, she married Leonard L. Erway in Larned. He survives. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, going on camping trips and traveling.
Survivors include, two daughters, Melissa Jacobs and husband Randy, of Great Bend, and Kimberly Sumner and husband Kelly, of Attica, Ind.; one brother, Kerry Greathouse of Larned; two sisters, Joyce Sucht of Wichita and Ann Wilcox of Larned; and four grandchildren, Kegan, Konner, Zackery and Gabriale. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Greathouse, Caris Greathouse, Ralph Greathouse and Jerry Greathouse.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with Pastor Leroy Lyon Presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Inurnment at Larned Cemetery will be at a later date.
