LARNED— Barbara J. Manka, 75, passed away Oct. 2, 2016 at Golden Living Center, Wilson. Born Dec. 5, 1940 in Larned, she was the daughter of John F. and Edna Firestone Arnold. A lifetime area resident she was a switch board operator for the Larned State Hospital and also worked at Southwestern Bell.
She was of the Christian faith, loved to bowl and was a member of an organized card club.
Survivors include three sons: James (Tammy Warrick), Larned, Robert (Tauni), Great Bend, and Greg (Veronica), Overland Park; a daughter, Susan (Steve) Vondracek, Dorrance; four brothers: Jim Arnold, El Paso, Texas, Ron (Sharon) Arnold, Larned, John Arnold, Grapevine, Texas and Larry (Earlene) Arnold, Great Bend; two sisters, Marie Walker, El Paso, Texas and Ruth (Wendall) Bronson, Del Rio, Texas; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Georgia Fletcher.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary chapel with David Arnold presiding. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Pawnee County Humane Society in care of Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550. Condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
