OMAHA, Neb. — Barbara J. (Murphy) Bernard, formerly of Great Bend, died April 14, 2016. Born on Feb. 12, 1949, she was the daughter of James and Alma Murphy
Survivors include her husband, Dan Bernard; children, Jennifer Walker (Timothy), Meghan Herek (Michael), and Michael Bernard; five grandchildren, Ethan, Nora Jane, Mathew, Isaac Murphy, and Leo; and siblings, Michael Murphy (Rose), Janice Sis (Raymond), Joyce Tooley (George), Joseph Murphy (Roma Lee), and Rita Buchanan (Joe). She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma Murphy; and a brother, J. Richard Murphy.  
Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 22, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Omaha, Neb. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Omaha, Neb. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Newman Center at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
