LARNED — Basilia Vieyra, 103, formerly of Larned, died Feb. 3, 2012 at Medicalodge Nursing Home in Kinsley.
Born on Sept. 10, 1908 in La Aldea, Gjto., Mexico, she was the daughter of Ricardo and Sanjuana Hernandez Chavez. On May 1, 1926, she married Pasqual Vieyra at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He died Oct. 7, 1971.
Survivors include five sons, Alex and Frank, both of Hutchinson; Joe of Larned, Benny of La Crosse, and Ricardo of Junction City; three daughters, Sandy Castor of Schaumberg, Ill., Julia Castaneda of Lewis and Frances Earegood of Larned; 49 grandchildren; 108 great-grandchildren; and 52 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pasqual; two sons, Luz and Robert; two daughters, Bernadine Rickman and Adelaida Perez; and a sister, McKayla Calvillo.
A Rosary will recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. A Funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned with father Warren Stecklein presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned or the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Kinsley, both in care of the funeral home.
