COLBY — Beau Matthew Mettlen, 18, passed away April 8, 2023. He was born on June 21, 2004, to Jeff and Michelle (Baker) Mettlen.
Beau grew up in Colby and was a current Great Bend resident. He was attending Barton Community College, on course to graduate in May 2023, with an associate degree in Agriculture Crop Protection. He was preparing to serve an internship with Performance Crop Research in Great Bend. Never having idle hands and having a servant’s heart, Beau was always ready to help his family, friends, and community, operating his own mowing business at an early age, helping his grandpa work cattle and farm, and serving on the color guard for Memorial Day at the Lucas Cemetery. He enjoyed “all things outdoors”; including construction, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and playing baseball.
Survivors include, his parents, Jeff and Michelle Mettlen of Great Bend; two sisters, Makenna Park and husband Tyler of Colby and Jayln Mettlen of Hutchinson; his grandparents, Richard and Kay Mettlen of Lucas and Bob and Doneida Baker of Great Bend; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles, including, great aunt, Joan Dunlap of Lucas.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lucas United Methodist Church, 322 N Main St., Lucas, Kan., with Pastor Les Rye presiding. Inurnment will be in the Lucas Cemetery following the service. Memorials have been designated to the Beau Matthew Mettlen Memorial Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
