HOLYROOD — Ben Walter Turner, 84, died Dec. 10 at Holyrood. Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Pawhuska, Okla., he was the son of Harold Clifford and Rachel Irene (McNatt) Turner. A resident of Holyrood for 16 years, coming from Herington, he was a laborer. On Sept. 23, 1950, he married Cornelia Joyce (McBride) at Red Lodge, Mont.
Mr. Turner was a World War II United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Harold Roy Turner and wife Jayme of Larned, Kelly Joe Turner of Macksville, and Kendall Royce Turner of Holyrood; a daughter, Brenda Joyce Adams and husband Gregg of Dyer, Ind.; a sister, Maxine Law of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Dean Turner; five brothers, Elmer, Charles, Tom, Robert and Joe; a sister, Lois Garner; and a grandchild, Lonnie Michael Sweeney.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., today at the Church of Christ in St. John, with Pastor Carl Feril presiding. Burial will be at the Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John with full military honors. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be given as Love Gift to family, in care of the funeral home.
