Bennie Mooer, 86, died July 25, 2011, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1925, at Otis, the son of Harvey and Hermina (Gleissner) Mooer. He married Bonnie Peoples on Sept. 8, 1946, at St. John. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he owned and operated the Bennie Mooer Construction Co.
He served during World War II as a B-24 Nose Gunner in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Mooer was a member of the Baptist faith. He was an avid archer, being a member of National Field Archery Association for 45 years and serving in all capacities on the national level of the organization.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Janene Lehmann and husband Marvin of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Todd Lehmann, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Sheri Lehmann, Euless, Texas; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Mooer and Glenn Mooer.
Graveside inurnment service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Great Bend Cemetery, with the Rev. Doyle Smith officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
