ELLINWOOD — Bernice Ida Koch, 99, died March 6 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. She was born March 16, 1914, at Alden, the daughter of Claud E. and Emma Louise (Reiser) Parker. She graduated from Alden High School in 1932. On March 10, 1935, she married Harry Koch at Alden, he preceded her in death. A life-long resident of Barton and Rice counties, she was a retired secretary and agent with Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. as well as a homemaker.
Mrs. Koch was a member of First Baptist Church, Women’s Ministries and KAPCIC, all of Ellinwood.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Koch, Ellinwood and Ron Koch, Great Bend; three daughters, Barbara Hoar (Bart), Great Bend, Gloria Roberts (Richard), Hutchinson, and Twila Bartels (Tom), Olathe; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Koch; a brother F.R. Parker; amd sisters Opal Koch and Irene Dannebohm.
Funeral service will be at 1:30  p.m. Saturday, March 8, at First Baptist Church, Ellinwood with Pastor David Wesner presiding. Burial will follow in the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Friday, with family present from 7-9 p.m., at Minnis Chapel. Memorial may be given to the church in care of Minnis Chapel.
