TIMKEN — Berniece P. Stejskal, 85, Timken, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. Mrs. Stejskal was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Rush Center, the daughter of L. V. and Bertha (Cunningham) Reynolds. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1949 graduate of La Crosse High School, she was a dietary aide at Great Bend Manor, Great Bend, for 11 years, and she was an assembly worker for 14 years at the La Crosse Furniture Factory, La Crosse, while working along side her husband on the family farm near Timken.
She enjoyed fishing, polka music, and just goofing off.
On Oct. 22, 1952, she married George T. Stejskal at Rush Center. He preceded her in death April 12, 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Pfeifer (Francis), and Kristi Rouse (Bradley), both of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Bryan J. Pfeifer, Lance Donham, Janae Wear, Nick Rouse and Tiffany Trapp; and eight great-grandchildren, Haley Pfeifer, Katelyn Pfeifer, Mya Donham, Wesley Donham, Noah Rouse, Isabelle Rouse, Brynlee Trapp and Bryson Trapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Tim Allen Pfeifer (Sept. 30, 2011); two brothers, Bill Reynolds and Jim Reynolds; and one sister, Bernice Reynolds.
Funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, with Pastor Aaron Withrow officiating. Interment will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery, Rush Center.
Memorials have been established to the Golden Belt Humane Society, Great Bend, in care of the funeral home.
