PONCA CITY, Okla. — Beryl V. Drumm, 87, died Feb. 22 in Ponca City, Okla. Born Dec. 6, 1924, in Longford, he was the son of Frank and Esther (Russell) Drumm. In 1942 he graduated from Longford High School and in 1952 from Kansas State University. On April 15, 1949, he married Ida Elizabeth Stetler. He coached and taught in Alton, Alta Vista, Cedar Point, Sabetha, and Bushton before retiring in 1988. In 2007, he moved to Ponca City, Okla.
Mr. Drumm was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, David Drumm and Milton Drumm, both of Wichita, and Robin Drumm of Ponca City, Okla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Danner Funeral Home in Abilene. Interment will follow at the Rose Meron Cemetery north of Longford. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Via Christi Village in Ponca City, Okla., or a charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
