Betty Ann Byers, 89, passed away on April 19, 2023, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on June 1, 1933, in Sayre, Okla., to Sanders and Wynona (Jackson) Titsworth. On Sept. 11, 1953, she married Ray Lee Byers in Clayton, N.M. He passed on April 29, 1998.
A long time Great Bend resident, Betty worked as a cook, most recently, for American Legion Argonne Post 180, previously working for Shaney’s, Ralph Wallace and V.F.W. Post #3111. She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed cooking and cake decorating, crafts, silk flower arranging and was a voracious reader. She will also be remembered for the love she had for her Boxers.
Survivors include a son, Steven (Karma) Byers of Great Bend, Kan.; two daughters, Tresa (Ken) Mayfield of Bennington, Kan. and Lee Ann Byers (Bert Esfeld) of Great Bend, Kan.; four grandchildren, Ray Byers, Jessica (Spencer) Unruh, Charles (Alexandra) Mayfield, Jamie (Bryant) Lovin; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janell Fisher of Branson, Mo., and Sandra Schneweis of Beaver, Kan. She is preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Ryan Byers; her parents; two brothers, W.C. and Vernon Titsworth; two sisters, Clara Titsworth and Virgina Fuqua; and a half sister, Laquita Borg.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Great Bend Cemetery with Pastor Adam Wutka presiding. Memorials have been designated to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
