Betty F. Shoaff, 84, died Dec. 22 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born May 1, 1929 in Wilson, she was the daughter of Edward and Emma (Chrudimsky) Hanzlicek. On May 22, 1955 she married Samuel C. Shoaff in Wilson. A resident of Great Bend since 1949, coming from Wilson, she was employed by Unified School District 428 Food Service.
Mrs. Shoaff was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel C. Shoaff, of the home; one son, Brian Shoaff and his wife Laura of Hays; and two grandchildren, Morgan Shoaff and Alexa Shoaff. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Gilbert Hanzlicek, Duane Hanzlicek, Glenn Hanzlicek, Larry Hanzlicek, and Bob Hanzlicek.
A private family graveside inurnment will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in WaKeeney at a later date. A public reception will also be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church or Harden Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
