Betty Lorraine Garner, 86, died July 19 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Sept. 27, 1924 in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Harry and Lucy (Kendall) Johnson. On Dec. 31, 1947 she married Dink Everett Garner in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she worked in surgery, the nursery and as a ward secretary at Central Kansas Medical Center.
Mrs. Garner was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was devoted to God, her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dink Everett Garner, of the home; a son, Dink E. Garner Jr., of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Carolyn Garner, of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Susan Erickson, of Kansas City, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Magda Dolatshahi of Great Bend; an aunt, Adell Johnson of Great Bend; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-neices, great-nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Johnson, Oswald Johnson, Roscoe Johnson, and infant Jackie Johnson; and a sister, Ruth Guliford.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Keith and the Rev. Loyce Clay officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Hungry Heart Soup Kitchen in care of the funeral home.
