BURDETT — Beverly J. Steffen, 85, passed away Dec. 12, 2017 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital.
She was born Sept. 19, 1932 in Hutchinson; daughter of Virgil F. and Elizabeth Canning Waggoner. A lifetime area resident; she was a farmer and homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Burdett, the Shiley Homemakers, Kansas Cattle Women, Kansas Hereford Women, Burdett American Legion Auxiliary, Kansas Genealogy Association, Pawnee County 4-H Foundation, was a Burdett Blue Ribbons 4-H leader for over 30 years and volunteered at the Burdett Community Library.
On April 10, 1955 she married Leon E. Steffen in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include; a daughter, Marsha (Kevin) Reece, Larned; five grandchildren, Tyson (Chelsea) Steffen, Larned, Teresa (Brooks) Burnett, Manhattan, Jeffrey (Emily) Reece, Hutchinson, Phillip (Allison) Reece, Larned, Michael Reece, Larned and four great grandchildren, Addison, Paisley, Camille and Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Steffen and a brother, Donald Waggoner.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Burdett with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett.
