Bill F. Powers, 85, passed away March 13, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was born Feb. 12, 1936, at Shenandoah, Iowa, to Ralph and Roberta (Cutts) Powers. He married Violet Johnson March 2, 1956, at Shenandoah, Iowa. She died Nov. 6, 2004. 

A Great Bend resident, Bill was the co-owner and manager of Brown’s Shoe Fit in Great Bend, retiring in 1997. 

He was a member of the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and St. Mark Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed square dancing, hunting and watching western movies. He especially loved being with his family and grandchildren.  

Survivors include, three children, Jean Goetz and husband Steve of Great Bend, Mark Powers and wife Cheryl of Wichita, and Carol Sattarin and husband Hameed of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Tamra Harvell, Cynthia Frohling and husband Phil, and Brandon Sattarin; and five great grandchildren, Promise, Chloe, Ailey, Logan, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet Powers; three brothers, Ralph Powers, Jr., Richard Powers, and Jackie Powers; and a great granddaughter, Emma Violet. 

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Brudvig presiding. Inurnment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to the Great Bend Senior Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
