Bill G. Steadman, 90, passed away December 21, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center. Wichita. He was born on April 16, 1929, at Great Bend, to Frank M. & Marie (Sterling) Steadman. He married Wilma Steitz on November 22, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, Kansas. Together they had three daughters, Katherine (Kathy) Marie, Nancy Lee, and Rebecca (Becky) Ann.
Bill attended rural and Great Bend schools and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1947, He attended the Wichita Business College and Wichita University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the aircraft carrier USS Midway during the Korean conflict.
He was a past Commander of the American Legion Post #180. He was the first treasurer of the Barton Community College, serving during the initial construction period.
After their marriage, Bill and Wilma moved to Wichita, where Bill finished his studies at the University, after which they moved back to Great Bend where Bill was engaged in the accounting profession for 60 plus years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend. He served on various boards and committees, and was a treasurer for thirteen years.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home; daughters, Nancy Watkins (finacé Bob Livingston), Derby, KS, and Becky Foos (Eric), Bazine, KS; seven grandchildren, Joshua Helm (Stacia), Nicole Denning, Adam Watkins (Caitlyn), Aaron Watkins, Bryan Watkins, Troy Grandy, and Geena Storm (Jaylin); eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy; one granddaughter, Terra; two brothers, Jack and Hugh (Bud) Steadman; and one sister, Lois Hazard.
Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jon Brudvig presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard and American Legion Riders.
