HAMILTON — Billie Joe Derryberry, 56, passed away on Feb. 15, 2019, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

Billie Joe Maidens was born on Jan. 25, 1963, in Midland, Mich., the son of James Ervin Maidens and Barbara Jane Stout. Later he was adopted by Grady W. Derryberry at the age of five months. He graduated from Madison High School in 1982. Later, went to Barton County Community College as a licensed First Responder and Firemen. He had worked at IBP in Emporia and ABZ Manufacturing, Inc. in Madison.

He was joined in marriage to Kim Damron, they would later divorce. Billie later married Jana Jo Jones on Sept. 30, 2017.

Billie will be forever remembered by his wife, Jana of the home; his mother, Barbara Derryberry of Madison; five sons, Michael Derryberry of Chanute, Kenny Derryberry of Emporia, Colby Mead of Pawnee Rock, Kan.; Brent Williams of Yates Center and Dylan Williams of Yates Center; two stepdaughters, Brooklyn Mead and Brandi Mead, both of Pawnee Rock, Kan.; three sisters, Brenda Burris of Emporia, Tammy Geary and Brenda Maidens, both of Midland, Mich.; eight brothers, James Wesley Derryberry of Madison, John Derryberry of Gridley, Scott Derryberry of Hamilton, Grady Derryberry II of Madison, David Derryberry of Gridley, Donald Derryberry of Hamilton, Brad Derryberry of Hamilton and James Maidens of Texas. He was preceded in death by both his biological and adopted father; and a son, Gage Derryberry.

Billie loved fishing, bow hunting, golf, bowling. He learned taxidermy and enjoyed working on Muscle cars.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Burial will follow service at Lena Valley Cemetery near Lamont, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton Volunteer Fire and First Responders and sent to VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O.
