HOISINGTON — Bonita Jeanette “Bonnie” Schremmer, 80, passed away July 28, 2024, at Hospice House of Hutchinson, Kan. She was born on Feb. 29, 1944, in Great Bend, Kan., to Joseph and Emma (Reif) Prosser. On July 4, 1962, she married William “Bill” Schremmer at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington.
Bonnie was a lifetime Barton County resident. She was a terrific homemaker, keeping an immaculate home and was an amazing cook and baker, along with working as a bookkeeper and teller at First Kansas Bank for 18 years. Bonnie was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed fishing, flowers, watching “The Walton’s”, and attending all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Bonnie had a “masters in motherhood and grandmotherhood” and loved hosting dinners for her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; three sons, Todd Schremmer of Hutchinson, Tim Schremmer and wife Melissa, and Tyler Schremmer and wife Renita, all of Hoisington; six grandchildren, beloved Haley Schremmer, Tara McDiffett and husband Michael, Abbie Musgrove and companion Darin, Tyann Schremmer, Trent Schremmer and wife Mary, and Tricia Schremmer; two great grandchildren, Hayden Klug and Easton McDiffett; two brothers, Jim Prosser of Springfield, Mo., and Steve Prosser of Wichita; seven sisters, Lois McClain and husband Jerald of Goddard, Celeste Meitner and husband Jim of Hoisington, Rita Solorio and husband Lou of Emporia, Nona Robinson and husband Bob of Marion, Nancy Yakshaw of Colwich, Patti Myers and husband David of Glen Rose, Texas, and Annie Holmes and husband Jon of Shawnee. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joyce White and Mary Jane Prosser; and brother, Allen Prosser.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Father Bob Schremmer presiding. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Hoisington. Visitation will take place 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and vigil with rosary at 7 p.m., all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
