HOXIE — C. Carl Gaede, 87, died Aug. 26, 2016, in Quinter. Born Aug. 17, 1929, in Hoxie, he was the son of Christian (Chris) E. and Amanda M. (Brandhorst) Gaede. On April 5, 1953, he married Arleda Ehlers at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, Okla. He was a farmer/stockman.
Mr. Gaede served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Arleda Gaede of the home; a son, Grant Gaede and wife Rhonda of Hoxie; a daughter, Cindie Streck and husband Pat of Ellinwood; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gaede of San Antonio, Texas and Joann Gaede of Pasadena, Texas; and seven grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren, plus a baby to be born in October. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard Gaede; and a sister, Phyllis Karnes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hoxie. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Sheridan County with military rites y Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Sheridan County Historical Society, the Sheridan County Fair Board for buildings/grounds; or the Lutheran Hour in care of the funeral home.
