ALBERT — Calvin D. Showalter, 68, died Feb. 2, 2012 at his home in Albert.
Born June 30, 1943 in Hutchinson, he was the son of Paul M. and M. Catherine (Miller) Showalter.
He was a graduate of Kansas State University with an engineering degree. On May 7, 1994, he married Susan Boroughs in Great Bend. A resident of Albert since 1994, coming from Hutchinson, he was an engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation Great Bend office, retiring in 2010. He loved fishing and reading.
Survivors include wife, Susan Showalter, of the home; two sons, Paul Showalter and his wife Sandra, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Travis Showalter, Albert; a daughter, Maggie Lewis Daisy, Salina; a brother, Jim Showalter and his wife Bobbie, Topeka; two sisters, Paula Hinshaw and her husband Rex, Springfield, Mo.; and Barbara Watkins and her husband Dr. Steven, Topeka; and three grandchildren, Skylar Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, and Luke Showalter.
Graveside services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow, (from Crupper’s Corner, south of Hutchinson, three miles south on Highway 17, and two miles west on Greenfield Road.).
Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Bryant Funeral home.
