SOUTH WEBER, Utah — Carl Vernon Johnson, 86, died Nov. 15, 2014 at his son’s residence in South Weber, Utah.
Born July 3, 1928, in Carlton, Kan., he was the son of Melvin and Fredericka “Rickie” Eva (Reiff) Johnson. On March 12, 1955, he married Xyla Norton in Wichita. She died in 1997. He had lived in Wichita, Abilene, Larned and Liberal, before moving to Utah to be close to family. He was employed as a welder for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Johnson of South Weber, Utah, and Troy Johnson of Belleville; three daughters, Sheri Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., Reva Preeo of Larned, and Carlin Altman of Manhattan; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;  and sister-in-law, Janet Riffle. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kail Johnson; two brothers, Earl and Bill Johnson; a sister Margie Clark; and may nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with LeRoy Sanford presiding. Burial will be at the Arkalon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Arkalon Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
