DODGE CITY — Carol Jeanie (Kennedy) Blazek, 64, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born June 4, 1950 at Russell, the daughter of Gerald L. and Catherine (Nault) Kennedy. A Dodge City resident for the past 40 years, moving from Hoisington, she worked at Sonic Drive In and Wardrobe Cleaners, both in Dodge City, retiring in 2012. She enjoyed crocheting and making poppies for the Veterans.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. On May 5, 1968 she married Ernest Paul Blazek at Great Bend.
Survivors include: her husband, Paul, Dodge City; two sons, Lant Blazek, Iola and Tracy Blazek, LaHarpe; her daughter, Teresa Blazek, Iola; two brothers, Harry Kennedy and wife Martha, and Benny Kennedy and wife Janice, all of Russell; her sister, Bobby Yost, Russell; and her beloved grandchildren, Miranda Blazek, Joshua Blazek, Trenton Blazek, Colton Blazek, Tavon Blazek, Keisha Blazek and Aaliyah Blazek.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Larry, Kenny and Jerry Kennedy.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow the service and private family inurnment will be at a later date.
