Carol Stambaugh 1936 - 2018

DERBY — Carol Stambaugh, daughter of Van and Lois Tidwell was born at Stroud, Okla. on July 6, 1936 and departed this life on Feb. 23, 2018. She moved with her parents to Russell, Kansas in 1942. The family then moved to Macksville, Kansas in 1944. She was valedictorian of her 1954 high school graduating class. After graduation, she worked for three years as a cashier at Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Macksville. Carol was united in marriage to Francis E. (Gene) Stambaugh on July 13, 1957 at United Methodist Church in Macksville. To this union was born a daughter, Susan, and a son, Steve. She worked two years as deputy of Registrar of Deeds in Syracuse. She then owned and operated a craft shop in Syracuse until she retired in 1987. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Hutchinson in 1988 and they helped start and were active in the Hutchinson Area Cancer Support Group. She also was a Reach to Recovery volunteer for breast cancer survivors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, in 2012. Her survivors are her two children, Susan Stambaugh (Daryl) of Great Bend, KS and Steve Stambaugh (Amie) of Derby, KS; grandchildren, Taasha Richter Smith (Todd) of Lenexa, KS, Stesha Richter Rathbun (Keith) of Garden City, KS, Marisha Richter McDonald (Shawn) of Columbus, Ohio, AnnaLeesha Baxter Huddleston (Cody) of Great Bend, KS, Addison Baxter of Great Bend, KS, Skyler Stambaugh of Derby, KS; great-grandchildren, Jett, Aniston, Ellsie and Vivie Smith, Jakobe and Porter Rathbun, Eily and Cohen McDonald.
Burial and private graveside service will be at Farmington Cemetery in Macksville, Kansas at a later date.
