LITTLETON, Colo. — Caroline “Jane” Greene (Cole), 75, Littleton, Colo., and former resident of Lynch, Neb., died July 7, 2013 at Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial, Colo.
Jane was born June 17, 1938, one of five children to Herbert and Martha Cole, in Great Bend. After graduating from high school she attended Fort Hays State University for one year, then moved to Denver, Colo. where she met her future husband, Sydney R. Greene. They were married July 1, 1961 in Denver, Colo. Before starting their family, Jane worked in the insurance industry until Darrin and Rae were born. Once the kids started school, she volunteered in their classes and then became a paraprofessional at Kepner Junior High School.
After raising their two children, Syd and Jane moved back to Syd’s hometown of Lynch, Neb., onto the property that was owned by Syd’s parents, Buss and Marjorie Greene. There they owned and operated Greene’s Repair, an automotive repair shop for several years before retiring.
Jane was an avid volunteer in the Lynch community, serving as president of the community club and president of the United Methodist Women’s group. Her love of reading carried over into the many hours she spent working at the Lynch library and she could be caught working at the Lynn Theater at least once a month.
Survivors include a son, Darrin (Glenda), Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Rae Manzanares (Larry), Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Bonnie Manzanares, Jeffery Manzanares, Brandon Greene, Rachel Greene, Cameron Manzanares, Xander Manzanares; and great-granddaughter Kaitlynn Greene; two sisters, Marianne Bohner and Judy Bayless; and two sisters-in-law, Deanna Cole and Gordonna Cole.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at the United Methodist Church in Lynch, Neb., with a private inurnment at the Alford Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow the church service at the Community Hall in Lynch.
