LARNED — Carver A. Smith, 12, passed away Jan. 8, 2022. He was born Aug. 23, 2009, in Great Bend, the son of Jon B. and Shala Michelle Mariche Smith.

A lifetime area resident, he was a student at Larned Middle School. Carver enjoyed playing video games and always reminded his family that he was a top-ranking Tetris player in Kansas. During the summer he spent a lot of his time swimming and hanging out with his friends. He was learning how to cook pasta salad so he could make his favorite food anytime he wanted. Carver will always be remembered for his funny and witty personality and his family will miss hearing him singing his favorite songs.

Survivors include two brothers, Dalton (Shelby) Bright, Manhattan, Andrew Bright, Wichita; two sisters, Kelciey Bright, Larned, Aarika (Logan) Hamm, Wichita; grandparents, Annette (James “Bub”) Smith, Grove, Okla., Michael (Abbie) Mariche, Dodge City, David (JoAnn) Smith, Great Bend, Becky (Paul) Sack, Rye, Colo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shala Smith; his father, Jon Smith; and great grandparents Tom and Helen Perez, Dale and Ora Louise Meyer, and P.D. and Mary Frances Smith.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at Larned United Methodist Church with Pastor Lucas Chavez and Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 4 – 6 p.m. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.
