Cathy Jo Fletcher

Cathy Jo Fletcher, 58, of Great Bend, Kan., passed away on Friday Jan. 14, 2022. Cathy was born to Lloyd and Billie Fletcher of rural Claflin, Kan. on April 21, 1963 in Great Bend.

Cathy Jo grew up living in the county north of Claflin with her parents. She attended school at and graduated from Great Bend schools. She moved to Great Bend in 1990. Cathy was employed at Rosewood Services. Her favorite job at Rosewood was at the Rosewood Art Studio. In her free time, Cathy Jo most enjoyed Yoga class, stitchery, dancing and bowling.

Cathy Jo was much loved by her peers and the staff at Rosewood. She will be dearly missed by them as she was a favorite of many and had such a sweet caring spirit. Cathy Jo loved us all her whole life like no one else could. God created her with a child-like innocence that Cathy Jo would not outgrow, and so her heart knew nothing else but to love everyone, no matter what, and to take each day as it was, without expectations.

She was known by both her family and her friends at Rosewood for both her loving nature and ornery wit. She would collect your pop tab quickly even if you weren’t looking, never missed an opportunity to ask for pizza, and never ever missed a pop at break time! At family get-togethers, she would get a niece or nephew to sneak her an extra pop – or two. Linda can still hear Cathy Jo say, “Aw sister, I love you!” And while she loved being with her sister and visiting all her family when possible, Cathy Jo was usually the first to say, “You ready to go?” It was time to go to her home, with her friends, at Rosewood.

Cathy Jo is survived by her sister, Linda and her husband Bruce Loder of Brookville, Kan.; two brothers, Roger and his wife Catherine Fletcher of Birmingham, Iowa, and Mark and his wife Penny Fletcher of LaMonte, Mo.; seven nephews, six nieces, eight grand-nephews and seven grand-nieces; plus all of her beloved Rosewood family of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per the family’s wishes there will be no visitation, however, friends may come to the funeral home to sign the register book. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Rosewood Roots and Wings, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
