HOISINGTON — Charles F. Bennett, 76, died Jan. 2 at his residence in Hoisington. He was born March 11, 1936, at Shawnee, Okla., the son of J.B. and Louie Marie (Armstrong) Bennett. A lifelong Hoisington resident, he worked as a seismographic driller and at GBI for many years.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the Eagles and the Hoisington VFW Post No. 7428.
He loved his family, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Bennett and husband Rick Sanko, Great Bend, Cathy Hawthorne and husband Jim, of Allen, and Pam Emily of Emporia; two sisters, Norma Sue Bennett of Texas, and Dorothy Green and husband Jim; one brother, Phil Bennett, of California; son-in-law Mike Ney; grandchildren Heath M. Ney, Heather Marsh, Jamie L. Wagner, Mitch A. Selle, April M. Trantham, Dylan J. Daugherty, Ashley Hawthorne, Michael Hawthorne and Corrie Hawthorne; and 10 great-grandchildren, including Dakota Ney and Caitlin Ney. He is also survived by his beloved dog, “Little Bear.” He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Kay Ney, grandson, Shawn Ney, and son-in-law, Max Taylor.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Interment will be at St. John Church Cemetery in Hoisington. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Memorial fund donations to Charles Bennett Memorial Fund  or Golden Belt Humane Society may be made in care of the funeral home.
