Charles Gail Hurter 1934 - 2012

PERRYTON, Texas — Charles “Gail” Hurter, 77, died March 29, 2012 at Hays Medical Center.
Born Dec. 31, 1934 in Ochiltree County, Texas, he was the son of Bernard and Katie (Morris) Hurter.
He graduated from Texas Tech University with his bachelor’s degree and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in business and counseling from Fort Hays State University. He taught school in Wilson, Ford, Palco and Dove Creek. After retirement, he moved back to Perryton, Texas. In 1959, he married Susie Miller. They later divorced. In 1962, he married Mary Glenda Evans. They later divorced. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, golfing, watching sports and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Mr. Hurter served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Carman and wife Susan, Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Zetta O’Donnell and husband Danny, Long Beach, Calif. and Martha Wondra and husband Dave, Hoisington; two sisters, Kathy Allred and husband Jerral, and Janet McLain and companion Al, all of Perryton, Texas; eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Tamara, Michael, Jesse, Glenn, Sarah, Brandy, Abigail; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Hurter, Galveston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Charles Gail Hurter; infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hurter; sister, Rita Ann Hargrove; brother, Roland Hurter; and a brother-in-law, Dudley Hargrove.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Perryton, Texas. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
