TRUMBULL, Neb. — Charles Kuhlman, 88, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2016. Charles was born in Olmitz in 1927, to Rudolph and Angela Kuhlman. He attended St. Joseph’s Military Academy, and graduated from St. Ann’s High School at Olmitz. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Catherine (Finger). He farmed in Lane County for several years before his employment at the Trumbull Harmon Grain Storage as Assistant Manager from 1958-1981. He then worked at the Trumbull Coop from 1981-1990 as the Credit Manager.
Charles joined the Knights of Columbus in 1946 and was a member of Pius XII 3rd Degree Council 1123 and Pius XII 4th Degree Assembly 608, both of Hastings, Neb. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church since 1965. The Knights of Columbus awarded the Charles Kuhlman family in 1999 “Family of the Year” for the State of Nebraska.
Left to carry on his legacy and memories are his wife, Catherine; six children; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Kuhlman. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers (one died in infancy); and one sister.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Butler Volland Chapel, 1225 North Elm Avenue, Hastings, Neb. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 301 West 7th Street, Hastings, Neb. with Father Adam M. Sughroue and Father Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, three miles West of Trumbull. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 1 – 9 p.m. on Sunday, with family present from 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust and Trumbull Community Center.
