Charles W. Bybee, 71, died July 27 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. He was born Sept. 16, 1939, at Geneseo, to Paul William and Helen (Morehouse) Bybee. He married Janet Stroup on Aug. 9, 1963, at Chase.
He was an I.T. manager at Central Kansas Medical Center and was owner and operator of Bybee’s Garage Door Service and Action Video.
Mr. Bybee was a Great Bend, Kansas resident for 42 years. He had previously lived in Lyons and Hutchinson.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; stepfather James Kooistra of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Brian Bybee of Lawrence; a daughter, Traci Hamblin of McPherson; a sister, Barbara Jo Bybee of Great Bend; , a stepsister: Judy Sepik of Semi Valley, Calif.; a stepbrother: James Kooistra Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Kendra Hamblin, Kaci Hamblin and Josh Hamblin; and one great-grandson: Holtyn Hamblin
Memorial graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Great Bend Cemetery North, with the Rev. Dr. Scott Solether officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
