Cheri Rae Walter, 71, passed away Aug. 31, 2020, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus. She was born on Nov. 8, 1948, at Wichita to Joseph and Helen (Helbert) Greenleaf. She married Doug Walter on June 25, 1981, at Great Bend. He survives. 

Coming from Wichita in 1964, Cheri was a Great Bend resident. She retired from McPherson and McVey Law Office as a debt collector. She enjoyed cross stitching and stained glass work. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  

Survivors include, her husband, Doug Walter of the home; three daughters, Tami Johns, and Melissa Crawford and husband James, all of Great Bend, and Pamela Cooper and husband Patrick of Wichita; and five beloved grandchildren, Gavin Crawford, Kamryn Johns, Khloe Johns, William Dixon, and Seth Choyce. 

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be at the home of Doug and Cheri, at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, 3315 18th St., Great Bend, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
