HEIZER — Chris Alan Smolik, 33, died Aug. 20 at his home in Heizer. Born Feb. 12, 1978, in Great Bend, he was the son of Tom and Sherry (Biles) Smolik. A resident of Heizer since 2001, coming from Spring, Texas, he was a welder for Great Bend Manufacturing.
Mr. Smolik was a member of the First Church of God.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Tom and Tina Smolik, of Bushton; his mother, Sherry Smolik, of Heizer; three daughters, Deziree Smith, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Destiny Sanchez and Mahala Sanchez, both of Heizer; a sister, Heather Ramirez and husband Anthony, of Great Bend; companion: Anna Sanchez, of Heizer; maternal grandmother, Claudie Biles, of Heizer; paternal grandparents, Matt and Doris Smolik, of Great Bend; two stepbrothers, Mike Cox and Mason Cox, both of Bushton; a half sister, Nichole Smolik, of Bushton; and two nephews, Little Anthony Ramirez and Elizaiah "Zae" Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roy Biles.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Chris Smolik Funeral Expense Fund, in care of the funeral home.
