GREAT BEND — Clara May Ellis, 64, of Great Bend, passed away at her home on Jan. 1, 2013 after an extended illness.
Born on May 23, 1948 in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Maurice and Virginia (Weathers) Roach. A resident of Great Bend for her entire life, she graduated from Great Bend High School in 1965, and then graduated from Sidney’s Hairdressing College in Hutchinson, after which she worked as a beautician for 15 years. She then worked at the Great Bend Manor both as a Certified Nursing Assistant and as a private caregiver for six years.
Mrs. Ellis was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Ellis of Great Bend; two sons, Brian and Brent and his wife, Chastity, both of Great Bend; a daughter, Gina Gugins and her husband, Gary, Kinsley; three grandchildren, Chase, Chloe, and Chelsi Ellis; one brother, Kenneth Roach of Great Bend; and one sister, Marie and her husband, Bill, Stanley of Great Bend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers William and Allan Roach, and her twin sister, Teresa Kay Murray on Jan. 2, 2011.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Barton County with Father Donald Bedore officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Charter Funerals in Great Bend. Memorials may be directed to the Clara May Ellis Memorial Fund.
