Clarence B. Wagner 1924-2011

RUSSELL — Clarence B. Wagner, 87, of Russell, died Dec. 16 at the Salina Regional Health Center.
He was born  Feb. 15, 1924, in Otis, the son of Joseph and Mary (Wilhelm) Wagner. He grew up in the Otis area and graduated from Otis High School in 1942. He married Frances Mae Laubhan on Aug. 29, 1948, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. Clarence worked as a production foreman for the National Co-op Refinery Association most of his adult life and retired in 1988.

He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell,  served on the church council and helped with Bible study. He was also a member of the Russell Elks Lodge was a former Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons Steve Wagner, Lake Charles, La.; and Brad Wagner, Russell; a granddaughter, two step-grandsons and a great-grandson.


   He was preceded in death by a sister Alice Douglas; an infant sister Ruth Wagner; and brothers Lester, Verner and Marvin Wagner.

A celebration of Clarence’s life is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present to greet guests from 6-7 p.m., at the mortuary. 
Memorials may be be given to St. John Lutheran Church or to the Russell County Food Pantry and sent in care of the mortuary.
