GREAT BEND — Cody J. Maris, age 35 years, of Great Bend, Kan. passed away early on Sunday morning, July 29, 2018 in rural Russell County, Kan.
Cody was born on June 23, 1983 at Garden City, Kan. to Traci Maris and Brian Baker. He moved to Great Bend with his family at an early age and lived in Great Bend for nearly all his life. Cody managed Wichita Golf Carts in Wichita, Kan. for many years. A devout Christian who loved the Lord, Cody delighted in sharing that love with others. He loved to hunt with his uncle Brett Maris, and was a softball enthusiast all his life, traveling in softball leagues. Cody loved music festivals and concerts – most of all, he loved life and friends and family, and was a really great uncle to his nephew, Lycan.
Survivors include his mother, Traci Maris, Great Bend, Kan.; his fathers, Mark Williams, Great Bend, Kan. and Brian Baker, Ulysses, Kan.; his sister, Heaven Williams (and Joshua) Martensen; his nephews, Saint Malkai Martensen and Lycan Williams; his grandmother, Vicki Smith, Great Bend, Kan. and his aunt, Tara Elliott, Great Bend, Kan. Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Maris; and a niece, Nova Martensen.
Cremation has been chosen. The family will be conducting a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at the First Assembly of God Church, 601 Patton Road, Great Bend, Kan. with Mark Williams officiating. The family has requested that memorials be made in care of the family for later designation.
