Curtis L. Whaley 1968 - 2016

Curtis L. Whaley, 48, died May 29, 2016, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. Born Jan. 31, 1968, in Garden City, he was the son of Curtis A. and Mary (Cody) Whaley. On July 4, 1997, he married Annie Reynolds in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend for 19 years, coming from Larned, he was a driver for Old Dominion Freight Lines.
Mr. Whaley was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Argonne Post 180 in Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Whaley, of the home; three sons, Simon Sullivan and his wife Malia of Great Bend, Michael Sullivan and his wife BreAnne of Holyrood, and Denver Whaley of Great Bend; two daughters, Maryann Whaley of Great Bend and Courtnie Whaley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six sisters, Trish Warren of Hutchinson, Stacee Anderson of El Dorado, Cherie Shaver of Larned, Keithetta Duff, Milinda Williams and Jenifer Coffey; four brothers, Cody Whaley of Larned, Tom Cady of Salina, Bruce Jones of Larned, and Buddy Hook of Kingman; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kevin Jones, LeRoy Hook and Robyn Jones; and two sisters, Georgia Tammen and Rita Denning.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 at Bryant Funeral Home. The family requests attendees wear their favorite sports team attire to the service. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to the Curtis Whaley Funeral Expense Fund or Children’s Education Fund, in care of the funeral home.
