Dale C. Klima, 72, passed away June 12, 2020, at his home in Great Bend. He was born March 29, 1948, in Ellsworth, to Dale J. and Emma E. (Sulc) Klima. Dale married Chris Carpenter Sept. 1, 1973, at Great Bend.
Dale, a long-time resident of Great Bend coming from Ellsworth, was a veteran of the US Army serving as a gunner in Vietnam from 1970 to 1972. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and life member of American Legion Argonne Post 180. He enjoyed 50’s and 60’s music and was an avid baseball fan, taking a passionate interest in his grandchildren’s ball games, rarely missing a game. Dale worked in the oilfield as a roustabout and rig hand for Lasmo Southern States Oil Producers, until an injury forced him into retirement in 1984.
Survivors include wife, Chris Klima, of the home; one daughter, Deena Smith and husband Chris of Great Bend; one son, Kelly Klima and wife Darah of Derby; two sisters, Marilyn Dunham and husband Steve of Wichita and Judy A. Triplett and husband Ron of Mustang, Okla.; five grandchildren, Brayden Smith, Riley Smith, Adelle Smith, Karson Klima and Demi Klima; and two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in passing by his parents and by one sister, Charlene Alsup.
Memorial services 1:00 Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with Rev. Jon Brudvig. Military Rites will be conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to American Legion Argonne Post 180 Baseball or Chasing Tails Rescue or Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
