ELLINWOOD — Dale Hartig, 80, passed away Oct. 15 at the Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Nov. 17, 1932, at Strong City, he was the son of Herman and Glenna Rose (Crouch) Hartig. A resident of Ellinwood since 1955, he was a carpenter and worked maintenance at Barton Community College. On Jan. 11, 1957, he married Ella Jane (Koch) at Ellinwood.
Mr. Hartig was a 50 year member of Lions Club and attended the United Church of Christ, both of Ellinwood.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Sheryl Neeland (Craig), of Great Bend, and Carol Byrd (Eugene), of Birmingham, Ala.; a son, Junior Hartig (Bernie), of Great Bend; and six grandchildren, Andee, Alex, Sarah, Adam, Devan and Sydney. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Neal Hartig; and two sisters, Mary Yeakley and Edna Miller.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with Pastor Kasey Crosby presiding. Burial will follow at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Minnis Funeral Home in Ellinwood, with family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Research or Heritage Club in care of the funeral home.
