ELLINWOOD — Daniel James “Danny” Otipoby, 37, of Ellinwood, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend, from injuries received in a motorcycle versus deer accident, two miles east of Great Bend.
Daniel was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 27, 1975, the son of Lucinda Marie (May) Jarvis and Jerry Chuck Otipoby. He attended the Lincoln Grade School, Wichita, Derby Middle School, Derby and West High School, Wichita.
Danny started working for Mike’s Steak House in Wichita, worked for the River City Kennels as a dog handler in Goddard, Kansas, worked for KMW was a design engineer and was currently working for Primus Company as a design engineer both of Great Bend.
He enjoyed three gun competitive shooting, riding his cycle, fishing, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed a wide variety of things, and would try just about anything.
Surviving family members include his mother and stepfather, Cindy and Terry Jarvis, of McPherson; father, Chuck Otipoby, of Wichita; siblings, Ginger M. Otipoby and husband Luke Shelley of Wichita, Jonas P. Otipoby and wife Julie of Leander, Texas; step-brothers, Dustin Jarvis and wife Joanna, of Newton, Christopher Jarvis and wife Kim, of Moundridge, and Matt Jarvis and wife Kelli, of Moundridge; son Harley Scott of Oklahoma City, Okla.; other relatives and a host of friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by an uncle, James May; his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
The memorial service will be held at the Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.
