Daniel Nobles, 88, died Dec. 7 at Life Care Center, Wichita. Born Feb. 21, 1926, at Stuttgart, Ark., he was the son of Cagie, Sr. and Georgia B. (Stewart) Nobles. He married Alice Mary Cushinberry on Dec. 18, 1947, at Hoisington. She died March 6, 2014. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was facilities manager for the Great Bend Post Office.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II.  
Mr. Nobles was a member of First Baptist Church, Good Sams Camping Club, Black Heritage Club, American Legion Argonne Post 180, past president of NAACP, Great Bend Housing Authority Board, Barton County Young Men’s Organization Board, Barton County Arts Council and Barton County Community College Cougar Booster Club. He was a Great Bend Police Department Auxiliary officer, and enjoyed working the gate at the Kansas State Fair.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Nobles and his wife Andrea of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Loy Nobles of Wichita; two daughters, Connie Nobles of Tyler, Texas, and Dana Nobles of California; one brother, Cagie Nobles Jr. and wife Jessie of Valdosta, Ga.; four sisters, Louise Logan, Pine Bluff, Ark., Thelma J. Russi, Great Bend, Annie Nobles, Las Vegas, N.M., and Earnestine McCullough, Pine Bluff, Ark.; and four grandchildren, Dr. LaKenya Williams, Ezekiel Jordan, Elijah Jordan, and Stephen Nobles. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Nobles and Joseph Nobles, and two sisters, Celia James and LaVerne Beverly.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. LeRoy Keith, officiant. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
