HOISINGTON — Darlene Alberta Mlynar, 90, passed away Feb. 7, 2023, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. She was born Feb. 8, 1932, in rural Galatia, Kan., to Alex and Marie (Foos) Karst. She married Edward C. Mlynar on May 24, 1949, at Hoisington. He died June 16, 1989.
A long-time resident of Hoisington, Darlene worked for Suburban Laundry, then later for Superior Essex in the custodial department. Also, never having idle hands, Darlene and Edward had a lawn care service for many years. She was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church, LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League), American Legion Post 286 Auxiliary, and V.F.W. Post 7427 Auxiliary, all of Hoisington. Darlene was an avid bowler, competing in many state tournaments, and traveling, enjoying numerous bus tours.
Survivors include, her sister, Joyce Wegele of Galatia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Mlynar; her five half brothers, Milton Rein, LeRoy Rein, Ralph Karst, Melvin Karst and Leo Karst; and a half sister, Beatrice Cook.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Hoisington, with Pastor Gary Wolf presiding. Interment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington. Memorials have been designated to Locust Grove Village or Concordia Lutheran Church, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 416, Hoisington, KS 67544.
