Darrel Dunekack, 74, died Jan. 21 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Nov. 11, 1938 in Great Bend, he was the son of Wilbur Henry and Vera Anita Faye (Otte) Dunekack. On Oct. 24, 1965 he married Anne Preston in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was employed by Natural Gas Pipeline and was a farmer. He enjoyed farming and gardening and in his younger days fishing and hunting.
Mr. Dunekack served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Dunekack of the home; two sons, Michael Dunekack and his wife Tatum and David Dunekack, both of Great Bend; two sisters, Delores Foulke and her husband Roger of Lewisville, Texas and Linda Shull of Great Bend; one brother, Larry Dunekack and his wife Linda of Pittsburg; two grandchildren, Camryn Dunekack and Cal Dunekack; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with the Rev. James A. Strasen officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery North. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Sister Aquinata Penka Nursing Scholarship, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
