LONGMONT — Leo “David” Gerritzen, age 47 of Longmont, Colo. and formerly of Great Bend, Kan., passed away in a car accident Saturday March 5th, 2022.
David was born on April 29th, 1974, in Great Bend to Leo R. and LaVonne (Otte) Gerritzen. He was a 1992 graduate from Great Bend High School, attended Barton Community College, and graduated from Manhattan Area Technical College with a degree in HVAC. David lived most of his life in Longmont where he loved to play softball, bowl, play pool, and coach and watch his daughters Madalynn and Lillian and bonus son Charles in various sports.
His survivors include, longtime companion Rhandine Hall (Longmont); daughters Madalynn Forrest (Longmont) and Lillian Gerritzen (Longmont) and bonus son Charles Snyder (Lakewood); mother LaVonne Gerritzen (Great Bend); father Leo R. (Jeanette) Gerritzen (Hutchinson); sister Larissa (Rob) Graham (Great Bend); nieces Kaitlin (Kyler) Sill (Great Bend) and Leah Graham (Hoisington); as well as many other extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held in Great Bend on Saturday May 28th from 2-4 p.m. A memorial fund has been set up for Madalynn and Lillian through Sunflower Bank. To make a donation send checks c/o Larissa Graham to Sunflower Bank 3600 10th Street, Great Bend, KS 67530.
